The Almanac's Take

Two-game Saturday slate, both arms projected nearly identical lines. Warren draws Cincinnati in a neutral matchup, projecting 5.0 Ks over 5.1 innings with 2.2 ER — workable but unspectacular against a Reds lineup that won't actively hurt you. Melton is the more interesting number given his 1.95 season ERA, though the 11-day layoff is a real flag here — rust risk is noted and confidence sits at medium for both arms. At 4.8 projected Ks and 2.3 ER over 5.1 innings, Melton against the White Sox looks like the cleaner path if the extended rest doesn't bite him.
