The Almanac's Take

Two games confirmed so far, and the most interesting number on the board is Dillon Dingler hitting cleanup for Detroit with 14 home runs and an .840 OPS — that kind of production out of the four hole on a thin slate deserves attention. Kansas City hasn't posted a lineup yet, so the Royals side of that game is a black box. Over in Cincinnati, Casey Schmitt is slotted seventh for San Francisco despite a .835 OPS and 12 home runs, which is a weird place to bury that bat. Elly De La Cruz and Sal Stewart form a back-to-back 12-HR pair at three and four for the Reds against the Giants.
