Ramón Urías vs Framber Valdez

Platoon edge to the batter

Updated Jun 5, 2026

The Almanac's Take

Urías gets the conventional platoon edge here as a right-handed bat against Valdez's southpaw delivery, but his .230 OBP and .551 OPS through 61 PA this season make that edge hard to cash — he's simply not hitting. Valdez at 4.39 ERA and 1.30 WHIP is hittable in theory, but his sinker-heavy approach (47.8% in their prior meetings) has given Urías real trouble: 3-for-14 with four strikeouts across 14 career PA, and that sample is too thin to read as signal either way. The .161 average is the loudest number on this page.
