Massey's left-handed bat gets the conventional platoon edge against Mize, and the season numbers support leaning that way — a .283/.322/.447 line with a manageable 17.8% strikeout rate in 258 PA is a real foundation. Mize, though, is pitching as well as anyone not named at the top of the rotation conversation: 2.79 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, and a 4.32 K/BB over 80.2 innings is a legitimately tough draw.
