The Almanac's Take

Dylan Cease is the cleanest arm on a 29-game slate — 6.5 projected Ks, 1.7 projected ER over 6.2 projected innings against the Giants, no flags, high confidence, and a 2.79 season ERA that supports the number. MacKenzie Gore projects identically (6.5 K, 1.6 ER, 6.2 IP) against an Angels lineup rated elite on the matchup side, but seven days of extended rest is a real variable to weigh. Kyle Harrison draws the same caution — elite projections against St. Louis, 2.82 ERA as context, but 11 days off is the longest layoff on the board.
