The Almanac's Take

Two games on the board today, both reads pointing the same direction: pitchers. Rasmussen faces a Cleveland lineup sitting at .688 OPS with nine hitters in a platoon disadvantage against his arm — about as clean a pitcher-favors setup as the grid will show. Kikuchi vs. Chicago is a similar story, .673 OPS and six platoon mismatches, though lefties against the White Sox haven't been a lock this year so treat the floor as real. Austin Hays is 6-for-28 lifetime off Kikuchi — worth a footnote in 28 PA, nothing more. Kwan's 3-for-10 against Rasmussen is the same: small sample, ignore it.

How to read this page

Primary read is the lineup strength block — season OPS, lineup K%, and platoon-edge count across the opposing lineup. When enough Statcast PA is on file, the lineup composite vs the pitcher's hand sits alongside it.

Career head-to-head reads as color, not edge. PA count travels with every H2H number on this page so a 4-for-7 sample looks like the small sample it is. The “notable H2H” highlight list is filtered to PA ≥ 10 for that reason.
